When worlds become more immersive and systems more intelligent, how do we craft play that is engaging, fair, sustainable, and worth sharing?

  • Show, don’t tell Let attendees play, try, and experience your system in real time
  • Built for play Systems evaluated through interaction, immersion, and player context — not benchmarks alone
  • Start the dialogue Live demos spark critique, collaboration, and feedback on the demo floor

Conference Scope

The artifact and demonstration track complements the archival paper program by making gaming and entertainment systems tangible — through systems, interfaces, tools, and experiences people can interact with directly.

The International Conference on Next-generation Gaming and Entertainment Systems (NGES) invites research artifacts and live demonstrations as the field evolves from Traditional game systems toward NGES. Where papers articulate claims in prose, artifacts let the community play, try, and question how immersive and intelligent entertainment systems shape experience, production, and culture.

Under the theme “Immersive Play & Intelligent Worlds,” The 2027 conference examines how next-generation gaming and entertainment systems can deliver richer play, deeper immersion, and more meaningful shared experiences — through advances in systems, interaction, content, and player well-being. We seek demos that embody this commitment: playable games, XR experiences, engines and tools, AI-in-games systems, and novel controllers evaluated with players and creators — not model performance alone.

Choosing the Right Format

Select the submission type that matches your contribution:

Papers

Full & short papers

Archival research with formal evaluation, published in proceedings and presented orally or as lightning talks.

Posters

Poster abstracts

Work-in-progress findings presented as printed posters with one-on-one discussion.

The Demo Experience

Accepted demonstrations are presented during the Poster Session & Demos at Holiday Inn San Antonio, Riverwalk, San Antonio, USA. Plan for:

Live interaction

Attendees try your system hands-on at your demo station

Author dialogue

Explain design choices, limitations, and research questions in conversation

Backup plan

Pre-recorded demo video if connectivity or hardware fails on site

Open artifacts

QR codes or links to code, data, or documentation encouraged on the poster

Eligible Artifact Types

We welcome artifacts and demonstrations that advance gaming and entertainment systems research or practice. Submissions must include a demonstrable artifact suitable for live presentation.

Playable games & interactive experiencesShort games, vertical slices, prototypes, and playable research builds attendees can try on the floor
XR & immersive demosVR/AR/MR entertainment experiences, presence studies, spatial interaction, and haptic setups
Engines, tools & authoring systemsEngine features, editors, pipelines, and production tools that accelerate creative work
AI-in-games demosAdaptive difficulty, NPC agents, procedural content, dialogue systems, and generative production tools
Controllers, sensing & embodied inputNovel input devices, biometric sensing, full-body interaction, and accessibility-oriented hardware
Multiplayer, networking & live platformsLatency demos, sync tools, matchmaking prototypes, and cloud or streaming entertainment systems
Datasets & reproducible artifactsPlayer datasets, benchmarks, annotation platforms, corpora, and openly documented game-research resources
Accessible & inclusive play systemsAssistive controllers, adaptive interfaces, and experiences designed for diverse abilities and contexts

Purely conceptual work without an interactive or inspectable component belongs in the Call for Papers or Call for Posters. Related submissions across formats are permitted when disclosed in each submission.

Research Track Alignment

Identify a primary research track at submission. Cross-track demos are welcome when the connection is clearly articulated.

Proposal Requirements

Submit a demo proposal describing your artifact, its NGES contribution, and a concrete plan for live presentation at the conference.

  • Format: Extended abstract up to 4 pages, excluding references. Official NGES 2027 template, single-column PDF.
  • Review: Single-blind — include author names and affiliations on the proposal.
  • Track: One primary track (A or B); note secondary relevance in the submission form.
  • Dual submission: Not eligible if under review elsewhere or previously published archivally. Disclose overlapping workshop or companion submissions.

Required Proposal Sections

  • Artifact description — purpose, functionality, and the gaming and entertainment systems problem addressed
  • Research contribution — novelty, design rationale, and player-centered evaluation evidence
  • Live demonstration plan — interaction flow, duration, staffing, and backup if hardware or network fails
  • Technical requirements — equipment you bring, venue needs (power, network, display), and accessibility for participants
  • Ethics & availability — consent, privacy, safety; code/data/documentation availability (open release encouraged)

How to Submit

Upload your demo proposal through the official NGES submission portal before November 20, 2026 (11:59 PM AoE).

· Optional: demo video, screenshots, or repository link to support review (no paid access required).

Review & Presentation

Demo reviewers ask whether your artifact is relevant, novel, player-centered, and feasible to present live in a busy conference environment.

  • Relevance to the conference theme, selected track, and gaming and entertainment systems scholarship
  • Significance and novelty for research, practice, or affected communities
  • Player-centered design, evaluation, or governance — beyond benchmark performance alone
  • Feasibility of a clear, engaging live demo on the conference floor
  • Responsible handling of ethics, privacy, accessibility, and participant safety

If Your Demo Is Accepted

  • Present during the Poster Session & Demos — at least one author must register and staff the station in person
  • Bring and set up your own equipment; standard stations provide table space and power
  • Accepted abstracts appear in the conference supplementary proceedings
  • Open-source release or reproducibility documentation is strongly encouraged

NGES 2027 welcomes demos from games research, computer graphics, HCI, AI/ML, XR, networking, design, media studies, and industry. If you have built something that helps our community experience what next-generation entertainment systems look and feel like in practice — we want you on the demo floor.
